Yet the thing is, when you have something "special" running all the time, nothing is truly special, not to mention that the quality suffers greatly when the quantity is so high. And as if it wasn't bad enough, these events are often so grindy that it'll take you many days to complete them; compare to the traditional holiday events, which were easily completable in about an hour, so you could easily complete them even in the very last day of the event's duration, and take it easy.
The game doesn't want you to play when you feel like it, instead it tries to bait you into playing it every single day, lest you miss out on these temporarily available rewards. Again, the point of playing is to have fun, yet these things are balanced to be like a part of your daily chores. Excessive afking. Granted, this is partially true to OSRS too since it also has some afk methods, but in RS3 it's taken to the extreme, where many skills can be afked for full 5 minutes with still a pretty decent reward for doing so.
